

Irene M. (Stanczak) McDonald (age 72) passed away August 15, 2011. She was born February 13, 1939, in Colfax, WA to Edward and L. May Stanczak. She attended Libby Jr. High and graduated from Lewis & Clark High School and Spokane Community College. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority (Laureate Gamma Beta) for over 50 years. Irene was a dedicated Spokane Chiefs Hockey fan and season ticket holder for more than 25 years. She was also a competitive pool player and member of the Rebekah Lodge. Irene worked for the Spokane County Sheriff's Department from 1983 until her retirement in 2004. She is survived by her daughter, Colleen McDonald and husband, Joe Lyon, of Edmonds, WA; sister, Cathy Archer and husband, Rick Pardun, of Spokane; nieces, Kris Murray and Dawn Madsen; as well as several great-nieces and -nephews, and numerous cousins. Irene's family will greet guests for a viewing and visitation on Friday from 4:00-8:00 PM at Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 N. Monroe St. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, August 20, 2011, at Hazen & Jaeger with interment to follow at 2 PM at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
