Jim Nypen passed into the loving arms of Jesus on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at home in Spokane Valley, Washington, after a long illness with Alzheimer’s. Jim was born on June 13, 1946, in Spokane, Washington to Esther R Nypen. After graduating from North Central High School in 1964, he was drafted into the Marine Corps in 1965, and by late September 1967 he attended EWU and met the love of his life, Patty. They married in December 1968, and together had two children. Jim graduated from EWU with honors, in Finance/Marketing, in 1970, two weeks before Natalie was born. Nathan was born in 1972.
Jim retired from Super Valu and Proctor and Gamble and was always anxious to retire. He was a dedicated, determined employee, but never lost sight of retirement, because he had endless energy for playing tennis, all sports, hiking, keeping his property in tip top shape and enjoying his family.
Jim was the most kind, fun-loving wonderful husband, and father anyone could hope for. His contagious smile and laugh blessed us all and his family has been truly blessed to have him and is forever grateful for his devotion to them. Jim’s love of Jesus was paramount, and he seldom missed his early morning Bible and prayer time, throughout his adult life. Jim loved his wife, children, and grandchildren beyond measure. He was loved and will be deeply missed, always.
Jim was survived by his wife of 54 years, Patty; children Natalie Pardue (Shawn) of Mead, WA: grandchildren Bradly Pardue, Courtney Johnson (Patrick) and great grandson Oliver; and Sophia Pardue Son Nathan Nypen (Cyndi) of Spokane, WA, grandchildren: Caitlyn Taisey (Andrew) and great granddaughter Emerson; Hailey Nypen (Davian Barlow) and great granddaughter Avyn; and brother Herb Nypen of Spokane, WA; many nieces and nephews. Jim loved his laughing good times with his sisters-in-law Sharon Ressler (Larry), Pam Hall (Monte) and brother-in-law Kenny Morse (Bonnie). Preceded in death by his mother, Esther R Nypen; brother Larry Nypen and sister Sandy Kites.
A military service will be held on January 6, 2023, 1:00pm, at The Washington State Veterans Cemetery, 21702 W. Espanola Rd, Medical Lake, WA 99022. After the service all are welcome back at the Nypen’s house for snacks.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s name may be made to Horizon Hospice, 608 E. Holland Avenue, Spokane, WA 99218. There aren’t adequate words to say how marvelous the care was by Horizon Hospice! A huge “THANK YOU” to all of you who knew, loved, and cared so carefully for Jim.
