Jason passed away at home in his sleep, surrounded by his loved ones on Monday July 26th in Spokane, WA at the age of 64. He was born in Little Rock, Arkansas the second youngest of 13 children. He is preceded in death by his father Willie Fairchild and his Mother Emma Williams, as well as several brothers and sisters. Jason is survived by his wife Christina Fairchild
(Hartelius), his children Cheri Armentino (Fairchild) (Richard), Jason (J.J) Fairchild, Malynda
Fairchild, Zakiyius Fairchild, Michaela Gardner, and his grandchildren; Cody, Ezekio, and Raini. As well as countless others who considered him dad at one point in their lives (Fronza, Tim, Brittny, April, & Christopher).
After Graduating North Little Rock High School, Jason joined the Army in 1977 and later the National Guard. He proudly served his country for 30 years all over the world including Korea as his first deployment and ending in Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom as his last deployment. Jason received numerous awards and commendations including, but not limited to: Army commendation medal (x2), Army achievement medal (x2), Army reserve components achievement medal, National defense service medal, Global war on terrorism expeditionary medal, Global war on terrorism service medal, Armed forces reserve medal w/m device, Humanitarian service medal (x2), and Army good conduct medal (x2) before being honorably discharged. Jason also served Yakima County as the Maintenance Lead for the department of Facility Services for 20 years.
While Jason loved serving his country, he by far, was most proud of his family. His children, and especially his grandchildren, were his whole world. Jason was most happy when all his kids and grandkids were all under his roof at the same time. He adored being a grandpa and would have done nearly anything to see a smile on their faces. Jason was a true and constant friend and the best friend a anyone could ask for. Once he called you "friend", that was it; you were a friend for life and could always depend on Jason to give a helping hand and/or be nothing but honest with you.
Jason will be remembered for his loving commitment to family, his joking personality, his service to his country and his ability to somehow, be the one everyone could count on. Jason's memory and legacy will live on through his family and the countless people whose lives he touched.
A celebration of life is to take place at Center Place Event Center on August 29, 2021 at 2:00 pm.
