Jeffery D. Teegarden

Jeff passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 27, 2011. He was born in Spokane on March 23, 1987, and had lived in Spokane his entire life.

He graduated from North Central High School in 2006. He was a student at Spokane Falls Community College and had plans to continue his education after graduating from there this spring.

Jeff was a member of the Puyallup Tribe of Indians. He was an independent thinker, a gifted writer with a quick wit, and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed the time he spent writing for the Spokane Falls Communicator and serving as its Arts and Culture editor. Besides writing he loved music, photography, cinema, and playing games. He also liked spending time at the lake, fishing, kayaking, and setting off fireworks there on the Fourth of July.

He especially enjoyed the time he spent with family and friends. He and his older brother Mike were best friends and what one didn’t think of doing, the other one did. Aileen Murphy was his long-time partner who enriched his life, stood by his side, and brought him much happiness over the years.

Jeff was a great guy and saying he will be missed is a vast understatement. His ability to bring out a good laugh wherever he went and show the humor in the most cut and dry situation will especially be missed.

Jeff was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John and Ruby Massong and his paternal grandfather, Gordon Teegarden.

He is survived by his parents, Michael and Carla Teegarden, his brother Mike all of Spokane, his maternal grandmother Janet Davis of Wapato as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and all those on whom he made a lasting impression.

Visitation will be Thursday and Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 N. Monroe St. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 3, 2011, at St. Peter Catholic Church, located at 18th and Freya. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Second Harvest Food Bank or The Spokane Humane Society in Jeff’s name.
