Jose Vidal was born on Nov. 1, 1936 in Manati, Puerto Rico. He was born on All Saints' Day and it is fitting that he was taken from this life on Christmas Day. Jose had a most generous heart and never in his life did he display any malice or ill will towards anyone. He was a truly selfless man who will be sorely missed by those who knew him. He came from very humble beginnings. He finished high school about 1954 and worked for a while for the government spraying chemicals in swamps and still waters to control the mosquito population. Jose migrated to New York sometime around 1956 and found employment as a doorman in a Manhattan high-rise apartment building where he was beloved by all the tenants. He would work there until his retirement. In 1968 he married the love of his life, Amelia Perez. Jose, Amelia, and her daughter Madeline lived in the Bronx, New York. After retiring in 1999, Jose and Amelia moved to Spokane Washington to be closer to their daughter Madeline and their two grandchildren Adrienne and Christina. Amelia passed away in 2011.
Jose is survived by daughter Madeline, son-in-law John Gore, grandchildren Adrienne and Tina, and great grandchildren Eric and Audrey Stewart, brothers Joaquin Vidal and Jose Antonio Vidal, and sister Milagros Garcia.
