LaVerne Warren Stearns

LaVerne Warren Stearns died on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Trios Medical Center in Kennewick, WA. He was born in Rupert, ID on October 24, 1938 to May Lane and Albert Stearns, but was raised by his step-father Dan Chavez. He was raised in Finley, WA where he graduated from Riverview High School in 1956. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1956 and was honorably discharged in 1967. He proudly served on the U.S.S. Franklin D. Roosevelt, where he was an electrician. He married Yvonne McCullough August 22, 1956. They were married for 11 years. He later married Robin Brady November 30, 1975. They were married for 3 years. He married the love of his life Constance (Connie) Daniels August 20, 1983. They were married for 21 years and resided in Spokane Valley, WA. Verne was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic Church April 19, 2003. He worked various jobs over the years but was well known as “The Family Tax Man.” He had a love for the rodeo. In his younger days he could be seen riding on the backs of bulls. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid woodworker. Verne was preceded in death by his wife Constance (Connie) Stearns, his parents May and Dan Chavez, his father Albert Stearns and his brother Allan (Butch) Stearns, brother Robbie Stearns, stepson Cliff Daniels, and grandson Jeremiah Newman. Verne is survived by his sons Wade (Crystal) Stearns, Mathew (Jill) Stearns, step-children Frank (Cherie) Daniels and Alexis (Jim) Newman. He is also survived by his brothers Gary (Chrissy) Chavez, Gerald (Maria) Chavez, and sister Rita Davis, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 22, 2016 at 1:00pm at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home in Spokane Valley, Washington. A viewing is scheduled for Noon prior to the Funeral Service. Graveside immediately following the service at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Spokane Valley, Washington. Memorial service will be held January 23, 2016 1:00pm at the Finley Grange on Main Street in Finley, WA . Food reception immediately following the service.
