Our sweet, precious Momma, Nancy Stoeser (Clarno), passed away peacefully on the morning of January 13, 2026. While her departure came sooner than we expected, she spent her final days exactly as she lived: surrounded by those who loved her most. As a family, we ensured her last days were filled with the same boundless love she gave to the world every single day.
In her final moments of clarity, she was held tight by the people who meant everything to her—her "Baby Girls," Jen Stoeser and Sara Sauls; her Big "Seestor," Michele Carney, her little brother Bill “Billy” Clarno; and the absolute light of her life and favorite person in the world, her grandson, Blaze Steele.
Although memory tended to fail her in the small details of life, she possessed a brilliant mind, though she was far too humble to flaunt it - unless, of course, you were brave enough to challenge her to a game of Scrabble or sat down to watch Wheel of Fortune with her. When it came to words, she was always the smartest person in any room, a secret she never boasted about, but one everyone quickly learned. To the rest of us, life was a casual game, but to her, it was a series of Triple Word Scores. She played her tiles with grace, generosity, and compassion for all living things, always leaving the rest of us wondering how she made it look so easy.
Nancy found her joy in the simple thrill of the casino, listening to the chime of the slot machines and waiting for the big win of a bonus spin. But the truth is, we were the ones who had already won big. To have had her as a mother, a sister, and a grandmother meant we hit the ultimate life jackpot. The payout of having known her was worth more than any "Big Win" a machine could ever provide.
She defined unconditional love in its truest form; she had a way of making everything better just by being there. The universe only grants us a few people as special as she was. If you had the privilege of knowing her, you would consider yourself among the fortunate.
Per her request, there will be no formal funeral service. Her wishes were for those who loved her to celebrate her memory every time you feed a slot machine. In lieu of cards or flowers, and in honor of her deep love for all creatures, the family requests that donations be made in Nancy’s name to the animal charity of your choice.
