Beloved friend & grandmother, Roberta Anne Brandt departed this world unexpectedly September 15, 2018. Her death is attributed to complications of cancer treatment. Ms. Brandt had been battling an aggressive form of bladder cancer for a year. A lifelong resident of Spokane, Roberta was born November 19, 1937, the only child of Robert and Esther Ingram. Early in life, Roberta felt a deep love of the theater and performed in a number of high school, college & civic musical productions. In her first marriage, she had two lovely daughters; Patricia Omans & Elizabeth Brandt, both have preceded her in death. The love of her life & husband, Donald Januchowski, passed in 2008. Roberta is survived by, her only grandchild, Eli Campbell, of Vancouver, her forever-faithful dog, Maggie and a circle of wonderful close friends.
An early feminist, Roberta, earned her master’s degree at the University of Washington, in Public Administration. She chose to follow a career path as a dietician and in 1960; she received the honor of “Washington State Young Dietician of the Year”. Roberta worked as a dietician in medical practices specializing in diabetes, as well as, a long career in management at Eastern State Hosp.
In retirement, Roberta enjoyed her passion for quilting and was an amazingly talented quilter specializing in appliqué, fancy hand stitching and bead embellishment. She belonged to a local quilt group and PEO Sisterhood (Philanthropic Educational Organization).
Celebration of life for Roberta Brandt to be held Monday Sept. 24, 2018 at Touchmark on South Hill., 2929 S Waterford Dr, Spokane, WA 99203 at 2:00 pm in the Forum Room on the second floor. Light refreshments will be served after the service. We request that guests wear colorful & sparkly attire.
