Rosemary Faulkner

Rosemary Faulkner passed from this world to the next on April 5, 2018 at the age of 94. Rosemary was born in Crooksville, Ohio on August 1, 1923. The only child of John and Mary Skinnin. She graduated from St. Benedict High School in 1941 and from Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing in 1944. Upon graduating as a Registered Nurse she joined the US Navy Nurse Corp. She was stationed at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, CA. There she met her husband Captain Wayne Faulkner, a Marine Corp Fighter Pilot who had just returned from the South Pacific. They were married at the Naval Hospital and moved to Spokane, WA which was his home. They were married for 48 years before he passed away in 1993. She is survived by 6 children; John & Cris Faulkner, Christine & Scott Jamison, Michael & Vicky Faulkner, Janice & Jeffrey Hoover, Brian Faulkner, Jeffrey & Kris Faulkner. Daughters Maureen Girtz preceded her in death in 2012 and Karen Carlos in 2018. Rosemary has 21 Grandchildren, 31 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great Grandson. The family’s early years were spent at their home on 6th Avenue in the Spokane Valley and summers were spent at their cabin in Twin Lakes, Idaho. All their children except Brian and Jeff attended St. John Vianney Parochial School. When their three youngest children, Janice, Brian and Jeff joined the PercussionNaut Patriots Drum & Bugle Corp, her husband Wayne drove one of the three greyhound buses and Rosemary served as the traveling nurse on their many tours throughout the United States. From 1972 through 1981 they made their home in the Foothills of Mount Spokane gardening, raising goats, and finishing their home on 10 acres. From 1981 until his death in 1993, Wayne and Rosemary lived in Sun Lakes, AZ with many wonderful friends shared through golf, art, community, the Women’s Guild at St. Stevens Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Her family was her life. Services will be held at St. John Vianney Catholic Church on Monday, April 16, 2018 at 10:00 am, followed by a Reception at the church. The internment will be at Pines Cemetery at 1:00 pm. A Vigil from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm with a Rosary from 6:30 pm to 7:00 pm will be held on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Hazen & Jaeger located at 1306 N. Pines Road in the Spokane Valley.
