Russell Henry Messing

Russ spent 22 years in the Navy and many years in the computer field as an information tech and systems analyst. He enjoyed umpiring high school baseball & basketball games. He was a leader with the Naval Sea Cadets for many years and also volunteered with the Spokane Scope Neighborhood Watch Program.

Russ enjoyed gardening and growing many of his own fruits and vegetables. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was also a very dedicated and spiritual man and so loved his Holy Catholic Faith. He was a proud father & grandfather and a wonderful husband. He will be dearly missed.

Russ was preceded in death by his parents as well as a brother, Leonard Messing Jr.

Russ is survived by Elizabeth, his wife of 61 years; children Dan Messing (Cheryl), Diane O’Brien (Peter), Mike Messing (Julie), and David Messing; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Also survived by sisters Shirley Hoffman (John), Pat Heleski (Clarence), and brothers Calvin Messing (Sharon), Dale Messing (Diane), Bruce Messing (Jeanne) & Brad Messing (Julie).

Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, January 7 at 11:00 AM at Mount St. Michael, 8500 N. St. Michael’s Rd, Spokane. Visitation on Friday, January 6 from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at the Church with Rosary following. Burial at Holy Rosary Cemetery.
