Samir Mousa Nemri

It is with great sadness that the family of Samir Mousa Nemri, 69, of Spokane Valley, WA announces his passing on March 15, 2018. Samir was surrounded by love and prayers until returning to his heavenly home. A lifelong Catholic, his devotion to his faith brought peace and comfort to him and his family in his last days.

Samir was born on February 2, 1949 in Husn, Jordan. After graduating from high school, he joined the Jordanian Royal Air Force, where his life-long love of the aerospace industry began. In 1973, he immigrated from Jordan to the United States, settling in Los Angeles, CA and was employed by Rockwell International, working on various projects which included the Space Shuttle Challenger. Samir soon met the love of his life Kamilia, and on July 7, 1979 the two married. In 1984, they decided to move to Spokane, WA, to be closer to family and to open a business. An entrepreneur at heart, Samir owned and operated a gas station and later a Middle Eastern restaurant. After retiring from the restaurant business in 1996, Samir worked as an aircraft mechanic for Horizon Airlines.

He was a man with many interests including gardening, fishing, camping, and being outdoors, but he especially enjoyed entertaining family, friends and colleagues. Those that had the pleasure of knowing Samir, knew him to be a kind, funny, hardworking and a generous person, as well as the most welcoming host. Happiest when surrounded by his family, Samir’s true life’s calling was that as a husband, father and grandfather. He and Kamilia shared a joyful and busy life, raising their four children. The joy was compounded with the eventual arrival of four grandchildren whom he adored.

Samir is survived by his loving and devoted wife Kamilia; daughters, Yara and husband Naim, Summer, Rabab and son, Rahmi; grandchildren Jordan, Grace, Grant and Azuriah; sisters Affaf, Samira and husband Sami, Mary and Munira.

Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday March 21st, 2018 at 12:30pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 304 S. Adams Rd., Spokane Valley. Burial at Pines Cemetery with meal of Mercy to follow at St.Mary’s Gym.
