Sharon Darleen McInerney

Sharon passed away peacefully in her N Spokane home of 62 years in the company of many family members. She was born in the Spokane Valley to Jack and Francis Syler. Although the family was very poor in those early years, Sharon, her sister Marilee and brother Ron grew up with an abundance of love and strong family values and connection that they never let go of.

Sharon graduated from NC High class of 1956. One-year later she married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life Richard (Dick) McInerney. They were married 54 years until her husbands unexpected death in 2011. Their 3 children, Russ, Ron and Debbie, were greatly blessed to have them as parents as were their many grandchildren. Sharon and Dick lived a good life with many wonderful friends and family. They enjoyed many outdoor activities, adventures and vacations including summer days at Priest Lake and the Pend Orielle River. It was recognized by all who knew them that they had a special bond of love for one another.

Beautifully, Sharon followed the example of her savior Jesus Christ, as she so willingly expressed love by serving those around her. Her care and concern and attention to the needs of others is an exceptional legacy she passes onto her family. Her favorite way to serve others was through cooking meals and made from scratch cookies, cakes, pies, and candy to be shared with many. Her large family of children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren could always look forward to their favorite baked goods on their birthdays, holidays, and many other gatherings.

Sharon enjoyed hiking, walking, swimming, snow, and water skiing. She competitively played sports such as bad mitten, tennis, bowling and ping pong. Sharon loved to play the complex game of bridge with many friends, less complex games like aggravation, chicken foot dominoes, swipe, uno and tick with family.

She was known for her bright eyes, uplifting spirit, and a big welcoming smile that she shared with everyone. Over many years Sharon worked as a waitress in 5 or 6 restaurants in Spokane. Many customers would follow her from one to another just to keep the relationship.

Sharon loved many, thus in return she was loved by many. She lived her life so very well.

A funeral service with reception to follow will be held at Saint Thomas Moore Catholic Church, 505 W Saint Thomas Moore Way Spokane, Friday August 28th at 1:00pm
