Thompson, Thomas (Tom) was born August 23rd, 1954 in Spokane, Washington to Ben & Norma Thompson, he passed away on October 6th while doing what he loved best, hunting & camping with his friends & his grandson. Tom attended East Valley High School. He was a long haul truck driver for 16 years, and then went on to work at Central Pre-Mix for 29 years & retired from there in August of 2016. Tom was an avid hunter & outdoors man, he loved just being in the woods, being surrounded by nature. He was so creative, he could build anything, he was a great welder. Tom was an amazing softball coach, a friend, a boss, but the thing he was best at was being the greatest husband, father & papa we could ever ask for, he wasn't a wealthy man & he didn't go to college but anyone who knew him will tell you that their lives were richer for knowing him, they will tell you how he lived his life impacted them how they lived theirs, they will tell you how much he taught them about life. Real life... he was a straight shooter, an honest, hardworking man. A HERO. He was his grand children's biggest fan & was so proud of the drumming, football, lacrosse, soccer, jiu-jitsu, softball, hockey & BMX his talented grand kids were a part of. Tom was preceded in death by his grandmother Lona Martin, his dad Ben Thompson, his grandson Carson Stephens, his father-in-law Jerome Hellman, his mother-in-law Lavonne Hellman & his step-father Donald Prickett. Tom is survived by his wife Lynn Thompson; daughters Rachelle Stephens (Casey), Amanda Knopp (Derek); sons Christopher Downs, Jeremy Foster (Christina), Brett Thompson (Jena); 9 grandchildren Bryan Reynolds-Thompson, Chase Stephens, Matilda Foster, Tristan Thompson, Maleah Nelson, Joseph Foster, Kaylob Knopp, Carly Thompson & Kennedy Knopp; his mother Norma Cyrus; his sister Cheryl Anthony & brothers Jim & Tim Thompson & many nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful amazing friends. Rest in peace beloved son, husband, father, papa, brother, uncle, friend, we love you. I could literally take up this entire page telling you about all the wonderful, selfless & heroic things our dad did, how much we are going to miss him & how badly we are heartbroken but being the man he was he wouldn't have wanted that, he would want us to take care of our mother, bbq, sit by his fire pit & tell some stories about good times, so that's what we are going to do. Please join us for a celebration of his amazing life held at Tom's home on Sunday October 14. It is an open house BBQ & we will have his fire pit roaring just like he liked it so come when you can between 1pm and 4pm. Contact: [email protected] for address.
