
Vanessa Rochelle Baumgardner, 56, of Spokane, Washington passed away on February 11, 2026. She was born on January 14, 1970 in Yakima, Washington. She was a member of the Spokane Tribe of Indians and Navajo Nation. She graduated from North Central High School in 1988. In 1997, Vanessa married Herbert Fredrick Hurt III and the couple had two children together, Ashly and Rachele.
Vanessa lived in several areas of the country, California, Florida, and Virginia before settling back in Spokane, WA. She loved camping, fishing, boating and trying new things whether that was a new recipe or snowboarding. Vanessa owned a cleaning business, Happy Cleaning, and built many valuable lifelong friendships through her work.
Her family and friends will always remember her as full of joy and could light up any room she walked into. Those that knew her, knew of her kindness, generosity and willingness to help anyone. She had a positive spirit and was full of laughter.
Vanessa is survived by her father Howard Bitsui, husband Herbert Hurt, daughters Ashly Hurt and Rachele Hurt, and many uncles, aunties, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded in death by Janet Mary Linthicum, Joanne Monica Ford, Jim Baumgardner, and Bernadette Ford.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for February 17 and February 18.
The family would like to thank Horizon Hospice for their care for Vanessa.
