Vanessa Janell Brockie

June 7, 1973 – September 14, 2026

Vanessa Janell Brockie was a loving mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her family. She leaves behind her five children, Ashawnta, Fidel, Emmett, David, and Derrick, and her three grandchildren, Roshawn, Ashawnae, and Richelle, whom she loved more than anything in this world. Although she may not have always shown her love in conventional ways, there was never any doubt that her children and grandchildren held a very special place in her heart.

Vanessa enjoyed cleaning, spending time with family, and helping care for the little ones. She was wise, funny, and had a little spice to her personality. She loved learning about history, following the news and political events of the day, and, of course, keeping up with the latest conspiracy theories.

Four years, Vanessa courageously battled colon cancer. Through every challenge, she remained strong and determined. She was a soldier until the very end. One of the things she was known for saying was, “I’m a soldier!” and she lived those words. She faced her battle with strength, courage, and perseverance, never allowing the fight to take away the spirit that made her who she was.

Vanessa was a quiet woman, but when she spoke, her words spoke loudly. Her advice, wisdom, humor, and encouragement meant more than she may have ever realized. She was deeply loved, and her presence will be profoundly missed.
