Vesta Mae Haugen

Vesta Mae Haugen passed away at age 88 on November 10, 2016 at Brighton Court in Spokane Valley, WA from Alzheimer’s. She was born February 13, 1928 in Virginia, MN to Alex and Signe Lonnstrom. She was married to Gust L. Haugen, Jr. on June 10, 1948, who preceded her in death.

Surviving Vesta is her brother, Don Lonnstrom, and Vesta’s four children, Linda Schultz, Mike Haugen, Susan Velasquez, and Pat Haugen, as well as 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Vesta was a military wife and also enjoyed supporting her husband in hockey. Since 1960 Vesta and Gust lived in Eastern Washington where she graduated with an Associate Degree in Nursing from Walla Walla Community College in 1971. She retired from hospital nursing in the mid 1990’s. Following her husband’s retirement from the military in 1999, Vesta and Gust spent their final years in Spokane Valley, WA.

A memorial service will be held for Vesta on Saturday, November 19, 2016, 3:00 p.m. at the Otis Orchards Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Otis Orchards, WA where she was an active member for many years.
