Zellia was born May 27, 1941, in Carrollton, Illinois and was the oldest of seven children born to a Baptist minister and his wife, James Howard and Zellia Colett Lucas.
Zellia’s family relocated several times between Arizona and Illinois due to her father’s health. She sang in the choir at Sunnyside High School in Tucson, Arizona, and graduated from Centralia High School in Centralia, Illinois. She was a regular member of the church choir, wherever she attended. She was married and divorced three times and has three daughters. She retired from the medical field after 46 years of various duties which she loved very much. Although her health had begun to fail, she enjoyed many of life’s pleasures, especially her family. Many family members relied on her as The Family Historian. She enjoyed keeping up with old friends and making new ones via Facebook. She enjoyed watching a good love story, mystery movie, or reading a good book.
She is survived by her children, Lorraine Hansen (Mark), Tamara SantaMarina, and Suzette Hart (Hal); five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also survived by one sister, Martha Burris and two brothers, James Lucas and Robert Lucas. Preceded in death by her parents, “Cotton” and Colett Lucas; sisters Vivian Vlastnik, Betty Tank, and Carla Lucas.
