

Bernice was born to Henry A. and Susanna M. (Froehlich) Lemke on March 24, 1919, in Zimmerman, MN. Bernice graduated from Elk River High School in 1937. She married Elmer A. Gaulke on November 17, 1945, at Zion Lutheran Church, Crown, MN. Bernice was a long-time member of Faith Lutheran Church. Bernice and Elmer operated a dairy farm in the Town of Bashaw for 50 and a-half years. Bernice also worked for 19 years at the Spooner Nursing Home. She enjoyed baking, gardening, quilting, and making crafts.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Susanna Lemke; daughter Linda Moberg; son-in-law Robert Moberg; and siblings Vera, Lorine, Wilma, Leo, and Leroy.
She is survived by her husband; one brother, Wayne (Carolyn) Lemke, Cambridge, MN, and one sister Joyce (Lester) Pecher, Bloomington, MN; one son Alan (Therese) of Columbus, OH; one daughter Susan (William) Tews of Cumberland, WI; four grandchildren, Jeff Moberg of Dresser, WI, Eric Moberg, Roberts, WI, Alicia (Will) VerDuin, Highland, IL, and Greg Gaulke, Ann Arbor, MI; three great-grandchildren, Megan and Erik Moberg and Noah VerDuin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 20, 2014, at Faith Lutheran Church in Spooner, Pastor Brent Berkesch officiating. Visitation was at Dahl Funeral Home on January 19, and also at Faith Lutheran Church one hour prior to the service.
Interment was at Spooner Cemetery
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to Lutheran World Relief or the Lutheran Hour Ministries.
