Betty Jane Kent

A memorial service was held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Spooner with Pastor Jack Starr officiating. Visitation was for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial was in the Spooner Veteran’s Cemetery.

Betty Jane was born on May 16, 1927 to Rufus and Ruth (Foringer) Foster in Gary, IN. She graduated from East Gary High School. She married John Kent on October 4, 1947 in Gary, IN. They moved to Spooner in 1967 from Lake Station, IN. Betty worked until her retirement in 1992 at the Community Cleaner’s in Spooner. John passed away in January of 1998. Betty was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 100 of Lake Station, IN, Washburn County Humane Society of Spooner, Spooner Women’s Club, Sara Circle, and the United Methodist Church in Spooner. She was also a volunteer for several Alzheimer’s associated projects and volunteered at the respite program. Betty’s passions were her cats, Charlie and Shadow; and singing in her church choir and the community choir. Betty enjoyed bowling and bowled in 3 leagues.

Betty is survived by; one daughter, Janet (Ron) Anderson of Kiel, WI; three grand daughters, Sarah (David) Werdeo, Elizabeth (Scott) Anzia and Heidi (Andrew) Nault; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded by her parents; husband, John; and one son, Derek.
