
Dawn was born on November 6, 1927 to George and Mary Jane (Young) Deck in Gary, IN. Dawn graduated from Griffith High school in 1945. She married Jack Tubbs on November 10, 1946. They were married for 47 years until Jack’s passing in 1993. She married John Kaltenbach in December of 1994 and was married for 7 years until his passing in 2001. Dawn was a member of the Spooner United Methodist Church, Spooner Study Club and the Spooner Garden Club. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and playing cards. She loved teaching her grandchildren and great grandchildren how to play Old Maid, Go Fish and Gin. She loved life, spending time with her family and friends and had a wonderful sense of humor.
Dawn is survived by her sons “Jackson (Nancy) Tubbs of Spooner, WI, and Jerry (Debbie) Tubbs of Haugen, WI; daughter, Jill Newby of Russianville, IN; grandchildren, Kendra (David) Metcalf, Kelly (Kevin) Silvers, Jennifer (Brad) Kaiser, Todd (Jaime) Kurowsky, Kristin (Christian) Budzinski, Kimberly (Chad) Key and Stacie Tubbs; 17 great grandchildren; sisters, Nadine Musick of Omaha, NE, Glenna (Glen) Whitesell of DeMotte, IN and Norma Hendon of Demotte, IN. Dawn is preceded in death by parents; husbands, Jack K. Tubbs and John P. Kaltenbach; son-in-law, Jerry Newby; brothers, Donald Williams, LaVerne Williams, Jerry Deck, Roland Deck, and Clayton Deck; sisters, Muriel Shaffer and Doral Kuipers.
Funeral Services for Dawn Kaltenbach were held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at the United Methodist Church in Spooner with Pastor Jack Starr officiating. Visitation was from 4 – 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at the Dahl Funeral Home in Spooner and from 10 – 11 a.m. on Wednesday prior to the service at the Church. Interment will be in the Spooner Cemetery.
