

Evan Richard Silvis was born in Kalispell, Montana the son of Curtis and Jacene Silvis. Evan attended St. Matthews Catholic School until the family relocated to Spooner, Wisconsin in 2005. Evan attended St. Francis de Sales Catholic School and graduated from Spooner High School in 2013. Evan participated in Lego League, Soccer, Football, and Wrestling. Evan was very active in Boy Scouts achieving the rank of Life before becoming sidetracked by cars, work, and an active social life. Evan’s passion was vehicle maintenance. He was always helping friends fix their cars putting others’ needs before his own. He was the happiest when he was up to his elbows in grease. He graduated from Fort Benning Georgia Army Basic Training the summer between his Junior and Senior years of High School and graduated from Combat Engineer Advanced Individual Training at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri. At the time of his death Evan was working full time at Hank and Jon’s Automotive Repair in Spooner and assigned to the 950th RCP Wisconsin National Guard. Evan enjoyed camping, canoeing, backpacking, snowboarding, hunting, fishing, and loved making bonfires.
Evan is survived by parents Curtis and Jacene Silvis, sister Anna Silvis, brother Ryan Silvis, Grandparents Mary and Richard Reyling of Marseilles, IL, Grandmother Ivy Silvis of Spearfish, SD, Uncle Joseph Reyling (Gina) of Glasgow, MT, Uncle Jacob Reyling of Frankfort, IL, Aunt Jann Kolyvas (Chris) of New Lenox, IL, Aunt Jeneé Rinearson (Tim) of Ottawa, IL, Uncle Randy Silvis of Devil’s Lake, ND, Aunt Debbie Hartman (Greg) of Spearfish, SD, Aunt Linda Silvis of Kalispell, MT, twenty two cousins, and many wonderful friends who will deeply miss him.
Evan is preceded in death by grandfather Robert Silvis.
A Visitation Vigil will be Monday January 6, 2014 from 4pm to 6pm at Dahl Funeral Home, Spooner with a Rosary Service at 6pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Francis de Sales Parish, Spooner, Wisconsin, on Tuesday January 7, 2014 with visitation at 10am followed by funeral at 11am. Interment with Military Honors will be held at the Shell Lake Cemetery.
Honorary bearers are Uncles: Jake, Joe, Tim, Chris, Randy and Greg. Casket bearers are Ryan Rankila, Blake Johnson, Peter Erickson, Eli Baumgart, Michael Aschbacher, and Roger Frye.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the St. Francis de Sales Catholic School or the St. Francis de Sales Good Samaritan Outreach Program.
