

Kathleen Atkinson was born on February 24, 1927, on the family farm in Dewey Township to parents Cyrus Foss and Marjorie (Walker) Atkinson. She graduated from Shell Lake High School and on September 20, 1945 was united in marriage to Marshall “Mike” Hotchkiss in Pine City, Minnesota. Other than for a short time during WWII, she was a lifelong resident of Dewey Township. Kathleen always kept family the most important thing in her life. She was a fantastic gardener, raised animals, and enjoyed feeding and watching birds.
Kathleen is survived by her son Gene (Karen) Hotchkiss of Hertel, grandchildren Adriena (Dave) Molinek of South Carolina, Michael (Lisa) Hotchkiss of Spooner, 6 great grandchildren: Cassie, Logan, Alexandria, Reilly, Andrew Jacob, Lilyana, 8 brothers: Russell Atkinson of Woodbury, MN, Cyrus Foss (Janet) Atkinson of Shell Lake, WI, L. Edward Atkinson of Chicago, IL, Curtis (Myrna) Atkinson of Hertel, WI, Jimmy (Sandra) Atkinson, Lyle Atkinson, Jerry Atkinson all of Shell Lake, WI, John (Linda) Atkinson of Glenwood City, WI, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
Kathleen is preceded in death by her parents, husband Marshall “Mike”, 3 brothers: Tommy, Robert, Lester Dale, and many brother and sister in laws.
Funeral services for Kathleen Hotchkiss will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2014, at the Lakeview Methodist Church at 11am, with Pastor Jack Starr officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, from 4-8pm, at the Dahl Funeral Home and also on Thursday from 10-11am at the Church. Interment will follow at the Lakeview Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Michael Hotchkiss, Reilly Hotchkiss, Jimmy Atkinson, Neil Purdy, Pete Samaras, and Charles Wellman. Honorary casket bearers will be her great grandchildren.
