

Larry was born January 4th 1934 in Rice Lake to Ralph and Lula (Butenoff) Holt of the town of Crystal. He attended school at Fairview, Earl and graduated from Spooner High School in 1952. In June of 1955 he married Donna Steinback at the Namekagon Congregational Church in Earl. They divorced in 1986. Larry was engaged to Betty Anderson in 1987 and they spent the rest of their lives together until Larry went into Heritage Manor in 2012. He worked at grocery stores and owned the Earl Grocery Store. He worked for the State of Wisconsin, building highways in the northern part of Wisconsin, but spent most of his life as a self-employed carpenter. Larry loved baseball and played for the Earl team. He was also an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing, his time at church and time with family and friends. Larry was in several organizations. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Spooner and held several offices there including Master Mason. He was a lifelong member of the Namekagon Congregational United Church of Christ, serving the church in many capacities. He served on the town board of Crystal for 25 years and was town chairman for 20 years. He helped to start the Springbrook Lions Club and served as a the president. He helped organize snowmobile safety classes and worked on the Right of Way committee.
He is survived by; two children, Karla Holt, town of Crystal, and Larry Russel (Rusty) Holt of Iron River, Michigan, one granddaughter, Kaitlyn (Adam) Schroeder, two great-granddaughters, Taylor and Viera of Spooner, three sisters, Elaine (Bill) Kruger, Spooner, Lois (Darrell) Courter of Ft. Meyers, FL and Linda (Bill) Austin of Long Lake, Fiance, Betty Anderson, her sons, Mark (Pinan) Anderson of Califonia, Bruce (Debbie) Anderson of Spooner, and two daughters, Judy (Jim) Schultz of Trego, Sue (Bill) Bennet of La Crosse, 5 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Donavon Holt, on sister, Norma (Gene) Anderson, one niece, Mary Lu Anderson, and one nephew, Jon Kruger.
Funeral services for Larry were held on Friday, January 17 at Namekagon Congregational United Church of Christ at 11 am with Pastor William Handy officiating. Visitation was on Thursday from 4 until 7 pm at Dahl Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial was in the Earl Cemetery.
