Laura Jean Knutson

Laura Jean Forbord was born on April 12, 1936, in Boy River, Minnesota to parents Orin Martin and Olive Lacrussa (Brown) Forbord. On June 2, 1956, she was united in marriage to Ernest Ingvald Knutson. She and Ernest moved to Spooner from Chippewa Falls in 1964. Laura worked for Rawn Chemical, which later became Cortec, from 1966 until her retirement in 1999. Laura’s family was the most important thing in her life, but she also enjoyed gardening, canning, and going to garage sales. She will be remembered as a fabulous cook, playing golf, of which she was self taught, and being a card shark, being involved in up to 4 bridge groups at one time.

Laura died on Thursday, February 9, 2012, at the Spooner Nursing Home at the age of 75.

Laura is survived by her husband Ernest Knutson of Spooner, children: Craig (Nadia) of Cannon Falls, MN, Dawna (Steve) Zingler of Oconto, WI, Shelly (Jon) Johnson of Spooner, WI, 14 grandchildren: Shawn (Sarah), Jessica (Ryan), Eric, Katie (Eric), Jamie, Travis, Mahalee, Kertlyn, Abbey (James), Joseph (Nicole), Roshelle, Roger, Jon Jr., Zachary, 12 great grandchildren, brothers and sisters: Barbara LaCroix of Fairbanks, AK, Marjorie Forbord of Boy River, MN, Grace Pospichal of Federal Dam, MN, Mert Lego of Federal Dam, MN, Della (Paul) Loff of Pengilli, MN, Gary “John” (Elaine) Forbord of Grand Rapids, MN, sister in law Evelyn Anderson, special friend and nephew Jack Anderson, nieces and nephews.

Laura is preceded in death by her parents, brother and sister in law Orrin (Dorene) Forbord, sister Ardene Lego, brothers in law Jerry Pospichal and Floyd LaCroix.

Honorary casket bearers will be Shawn Knutson, Eric Christianson, Travis Knutson, Joseph Van Hulle, Roger Frye III, Jon Johnson Jr., and Zachary Johnson.
