

Verna Anna Rosenwinkel was born on March 1, 1923, in Addison, Illinois, to parents Henry and Emma (Sprandel) Rosenwinkel. On December 15, 1945, she was united in marriage to William Stuenkel in at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Addison. While living in the Addison/ Geneseo area, she worked as a school cook and also as an activity director at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home. The couple moved to Minong in 1988, and then to Spooner in 1997. Verna was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Spooner and enjoyed quilting, playing cards, and baking.
Verna is survived by her children: Bill (Gail) Stuenkel of Gig Harbor, WA, Jim (Nona) Stuenkel of Sherman, IL, Tom (Donna) Stuenkel of Milan, IL, Jody Stuenkel of Spooner, WI, 9 grandchildren, 12 ½ great grandchildren, sister in laws: Gerda Rosenwinkel and MaryAnn Rosenwinkel.
Verna is preceded in death by her parents, husband William, brothers and sisters: Herman, Wilbert, Arvin, Ted, Alma Grobe, Edna Mueller, and Lydia Blecke.
Funeral services for Verna Stuenkel will be held on Monday, April 7, 2014, at 11am, at the Faith Lutheran Church in Spooner with Pastor Brent Berkesch officiating. Music will be provided by Chris Jockish and Bruce Miller. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2014, from 4-7pm, at the Dahl Funeral Home and also from 10-11am at the Church on Monday. Interment will follow at the Spooner Cemetery. Casket bearers will be her grandsons: Andy, Jake, Jeremy, John, Joshua, and Will Stuenkel.
