William Edward Fye

William Edward Fye was born May 10, 1931 in Superior, WI to parents, William Henry and Gertrude C. (Wallace) Fye. He graduated Minong High School in 1950. After graduation he entered the U. S. Force. He completed a total of 20 years active and reserve duty retiring from the Duluth Air Base in 1990 as a Tech. Sgt. On August 7, 1954 he was united in marriage to Shirley Coons in Spooner, WI and he and Shirley enjoyed 58 years of wedded bliss.

He was a member of the Minong/Wascott Lion’s Club, Minong American Legion Post #465 and the Minong Calvary Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughter, Peachy (Mike Hall) of Minong; Son, Bill of Minong; Son-in-law, Craig Shilts of WY, Grandchildren, Lindsey and Adam (Mandy); great grandchildren, Skylar and Sylas; sister, Lois Loiselle of Hayward; brother, Robert Fye of Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Lori B. Shilts; and a brother, Harold Fye.

A Memorial Service for William Fye will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Minong with Pastor Sara Pearson officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 pm prior to the service at the Church. Military Honors by the Lockman-Jensen American Legion Post # 499 of Gordon, WI will be conducted after the service on the Church lawn.
