Alex Castro, Sr., 79, of Spring Hill, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. A native of Brooklyn, New York, he was born Oct. 9, 1938 to Benjamin and Mary (Torres) Castro, one of six children. Alex served his country honorably and proudly in the United States Air Force and the United States Army and was a retired therapy aid for the Pilgrim State Psychiatric Center in Brentwood, L.I., New York. Mr. Castro moved to Spring Hill in 1987 from Smithtown, L.I., New York and loved fishing and working on his beloved 1983 Ford F-150. Alex, an avid domino player, also worked as a bartender at Spring Hill Dominos Club. He is survived by his children Lisa Bowman (fiancé Billy Bob), Steven Castro, Susan Ketchum, Arleen Castigliano (husband Thomas), twins Karen Piotrowski (husband Michael) and Michael Castro (wife Heather), Alex Castro (wife Angela) and Linda Pagan (husband Adrian); siblings Luis Castro (wife Patricia) and Raul Castro (wife Loyda); sisters-in-law Jane and Isabella Castro; grandchildren Vincent, Theresa, Steven Jr., Justin, Conner, Courtney, Joshua, Salvatore, Gaetano, Michael, Alyssa, Alex III, Christian, Nolan, Rosalee, Alisha, Julia, Jade, Ariana, Bryan, Alexith, Nicole and Brittney; many loving nieces and nephews, as well as his grandpuppies Duke and Lexxi. In addition to his parents, Alex was preceded in death by his loving wife of 25 years, Janice Marie Castro; children Edward and Leslie; son-in-law Jim Ketchum; siblings Mary Caceras and her husband John, Benjamin Castro, Jr and John Castro. Friends will be received on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017 from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Turner Funeral Home, Spring Hill, Florida, where a chapel service will take place on Mon., Oct. 16, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev.
