Barbara Louise Hutchinson, 92, of Brooksville, Florida passed away at home Friday, July 23, 2021. She was born in Jacksonville, Florida on December 20, 1928, the oldest of seven children, to Rufus Aaron and Ruth Geneva Touchton.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50+ years, H.J. “Bill” Hutchinson, her son Robert E. Hutchinson and brothers Rufus, Cleveland, Maurice, Johnny and Acy Lavance Touchton.
She is survived by her children Harold J. Hutchinson (Helen), Richard A. Hutchinson, Barbara L. Hall (William) and Tina M. Hutchinson-Mathias; grandchildren Harold J. Hutchinson, Jr., Earl J. Hutchinson, Jennifer M. Kelly, Leslie A. Hall, James M. Hutchinson, and Mitchell B. Mathias, her sister Janis Emerson (Larry), along with many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A Florida native, Barbara was a 1947 graduate of Largo High School, after which she married her beloved husband, Bill. Together they raised five children, while running a successful custom home building business in Pasco, Hernando, and Citrus Counties. During her life, Barbara held her real estate license, later owning and operating Action Title Services, Inc. from 1988 – 2010. She was Southern Baptist and a member of The Bethel Baptist Church in Spring Hill. Barbara had a passion for sewing, quilting, gardening and loved to read, reserving time every day for her Bible studies. She will be dearly missed and remembered daily by her family.
Services are Friday, August 6, 2021, at Turner Funeral Home in Spring Hill. Visitation is from 12:00PM – 2:00PM, with services and burial immediately following at Florida Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of the Nature Coast in Brooksville or the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches, both causes Barbara supported.
