

She was born in Hinsdale, Illinois on August 3, 1944. Barb graduated from Hinsdale Central High School and received a bachelor’s degree from Wayne State University.
She was married to Ken Vogel on October of 1989.
Barb worked in sales and as a teacher.
She was an active member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood for 50 years. It is an international philanthropic and educational organization that raises funds to support women’s education through scholarships, loans, grants, and personal encouragement to succeed. She was a cofounder of Chapter IO in Spring Hill, FL.
She was socially active and deeply involved in her Presbyterian Church and other charitable organizations for over 40 years.
She enjoyed extended visits to Michigan to spend time with her family and had lived in the Timber Pines Community since moving to Florida in the early 90’s.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Larry Vincent, her companion of the last 3 years, for the joy he brought her.
She also had a passion for tennis, golf, volunteering, family, and a good drink.
She was survived by sons Stew Howell (Debbie), Steve Howell (Cheryl), brother Michael Johns (Jean), sister Susan Rippon , stepdaughter Diane Boers, Jimmy (Katie) Howell, Sammi Howell/ Michael, David, Joey, and Kaitlin, Haley, Nathan, Vanessa, Danny, grandson Kenny (Kelly) Vogel, 3 great grandchildren Amer, Khaleesi, and nephew Jeffery and his partner Peter.
A celebration of life will be held in Florida and Michigan at a later date.
