

Born on August 24, 1939, in Waitsfield, Vermont, Cal grew up in Waitsfield before attending Norwich University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. He proudly served his country in the United States Army prior to embarking on a long and dedicated career with the Internal Revenue Service.
On January 15, 1964, Cal married the love of his life, Antoinette “Toni.” Together they shared 61 years of marriage, building a life centered on family, loyalty, and unwavering commitment to one another.
Together, Cal and Toni lived in several communities across the country, including Burlington, Vermont; Richmond, Virginia; New Orleans, Louisiana; Cincinnati, Ohio; and Spring Hill, Florida. Wherever they lived, they built lasting friendships, and Cal was known for his quick wit, reliability, and good nature.
Cal was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife, Toni; his daughters, Debra (Steve Suiter) and Janet (Scott Lashbrook); and his cherished grandchildren, Lauren Suiter, Zachary Lashbrook, and Kaitlyn Lashbrook.
Cal was both a player and a follower of golf and enjoyed watching tournaments, often offering his own thoughtful critiques of the players. He was also a lifelong baseball enthusiast. He faithfully followed the Cincinnati Reds during his years in Ohio and later became a devoted fan of the Tampa Bay Rays. Whether watching a game, discussing statistics, or cheering on his favorite team, baseball remained one of his enduring passions.
Those who knew Cal will remember his steady presence, his dedication to his family, and the quick wit that was always close at hand. He lived a life marked by service, commitment, and love, leaving a lasting legacy through his family.
He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Merritt Funeral Home in Spring Hill, Florida.
Interment will be at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages those who wish to honor Cal’s memory to do so in a way that feels meaningful to them, reflecting the values and character he carried throughout his life.
