

Carol was born to James Halsey and Georgette Martha Goble on September 4, 1943. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Georgette (Penny) Goble and Beverly McDougal.
Carol grew up in rural Sparta, NJ, surrounded by a large extended family. She was in the first graduating class of Sparta High School and graduated from Dover Business College. She married Edward Clifford on October 6, 1962. They lived in Byram, NJ until they moved to Spring Hill, FL in December 1995.
Carol retired from Picatinny Arsenal in 1993. She enjoyed spending time with her family camping, playing cards, doing puzzles and watching Hallmark movies. She also enjoyed cooking for the holidays, reading “Twas the Night Before Christmas” to her grandchildren and coloring with them. It was not uncommon to hear whistling through the house.
Carol was active with the Broadcasters Drum and Bugle Corp, Andover Arrows and Byram Travel Softball team. She was also a member of the Rainbow Stars.
Carol is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Edward Clifford, of Spring Hill, FL, son Mark Clifford of Gainesville, GA, daughters Theresa Mendel of Spring Hill, FL and Christine Goe of Spring Hill, FL. She is survived by grandchildren: Michael and Jenn Mendel of Brooksville, FL, Kevin and Makenzi Clifford of Gainesville, GA, Erin and Cody Fowler of Commerce, GA, and Brittany Goe of Orlando, FL, Ashley Goe of Orlando, FL and Jessica Goe of California. Surviving great-grandchildren include Zack Wolfe, Jackson Mendel, McCoy Clifford, Marrah Clifford and Hunter Fowler. She is survived by her brother James (Jimmy) Goble and brother-in-law Richard Counts, brother-in-law Greg McDougal, and sister-in-law Marguerite Dysart and many dear nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 4pm-8pm on Friday, September 26th at the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main Street, Sparta, NJ 07871. Interment will be held on Saturday, September 27 at Holy Rood Cemetery, 61 Whippany Rd, Morristown, NJ 07960 at 1:30pm.
