

Catherine Singler was born in Manhattan, New York to Mary Ellen and Joseph Heaslip on June 13, 1917.
She graduated from Evander Childs High School in New York. She worked as an Office Manager for an HVAC firm in New York for many years.
Catherine was an amazing woman. She was a beloved wife to Charles F. Singler whom she married on May 21, 1939. She retired to Brooksville, Florida in 1979 where she spent most of her later years before moving back to NY in 2009 and then to SC in 2014.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane P. Castiglia in SC and her son, Dr. Charles R. (Barbara) Singler in OH, 6 grandchildren: Teri (Andy) Thomas in OH, Craig (Julie) Castiglia in FL , Chip (Sarah) Singler in TX, Scott (Elizabeth) Castiglia in MA, Kevin (Noelle) Castiglia in SC and Jeff (Carrie) Singler in OH, 18 great grandchildren: Jacob, Rabekah, Derek and Dylan Thomas, Ryan, Braden and Carly Castiglia, Chaz, Isadora and Isaac Singler, Nicholas and William Castiglia, Grady, Griffin, Anna Kate and Carter Castiglia, Anne and Sonia Singler.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Charles Singler in 1996, her sister, Helen Mutz in 1993 and her brother, Richard Heaslip in 2018.
Catherine had the Irish gift of gab and a phenomenal memory. She was known for her storytelling abilities of days gone by. At family gatherings everyone would sit around her eager for the next story. She loved being with people and her personality and smile would light up a room. She made an impact on everyone she met. To know her was to love her.
Catherine survived the Spanish Flu pandemic in 1918, lived through two World Wars and a Depression. Yet she always kept a positive attitude about life. She never considered herself old even when she reached 100. She was always young at heart.
She enjoyed reading, playing cards and bingo.
A visitation will be held for her at Turner Funeral Home, 14360 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, FL 34609 on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Followed by a Funeral Mass at Saint Anthony’s Church in Brooksville at 11:00 AM, and interment at Florida Memorial Gardens in Spring Hill.
