Charles Vincent Holman was born on June 29, 1939, to Harold and Eva Holman in Golden Grove, Lydford, St. Ann, on the beautiful island of Jamaica, where he spent much of his childhood.
Charles began his career as a carpentry and construction apprentice in Jamaica, where he developed the skills and love for working with his hands that would remain with him throughout his life. He was a hardworking man who took pride in his work and was always willing to help others.
In 1997, Charles migrated to the United States and continued his career in carpentry and construction. He worked at Home Properties in Long Island, New York, as a building technician in residential settings. Charles took pride in the work he did and found satisfaction in completing a job well.
Charles enjoyed the simple things in life. He was an easygoing and laid-back man with a great sense of humor. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, watching and playing sports, and especially loved cricket. He was also an avid dominoes player and enjoyed the laughter, fellowship, and friendly competition that came with sitting around the dominoes table.
Charles was a kind and compassionate man who was always willing to lend a helping hand. His quiet nature, easygoing personality, and sense of humor made him someone who was loved and appreciated by those around him.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Eva Holman, and his brothers and sisters, Beverly, Harold, Joy and Barry Holman.
He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Charmaine Smith and son-in-law; Mark Anthony Smith; grandson, D’niel Theodore Freeman; granddaughter Nylah Marie Freeman; brother, Owen Holman; sister-in-law, Olivene Holman; niece and nephews,
Kareem, Chris, Nick, and Jessica, and their families; cousins Lorna, Donald, Joan, Jennifer, Marlene, Philip, Dion, Levi Thorney, and Lloyd Downie; along with a loving extended family and many dear friends.
Charles will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His memory will live on through the family and friends who shared his life, laughter, and many special moments.
Visitation will be held at Turner Funeral Homes, Crematory and Cemetery, 14360 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, FL 34609, US, on September 12, 2026, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a Memorial Service at the same location from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
A Catered Reception will take place at Turner Funeral Home and Florida Hills Memorial Gardens, 14360 Spring Hill Dr, Spring Hill, Florida 34609, on September 12, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, and Repass & Dinner will be held at The Holman's Residence, 12027 Jade Ave, Spring Hill, FL 34609, on September 12, 2026, beginning at 5:00 pm.
