Craig was born in Tomahawk, Wisconsin in February 1952. He grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from Washburn High School. Craig started out in the restaurant industry in high school, later managing the Town Crier Restaurants. During that time, he married and had three daughters. Craig then moved to Florida and joined his mom at AmeriLife selling life insurance. While at AmeriLife he met Georgette and they began their life of many memorable years together.
Craig lived life with a positive attitude. He had a passion for perfection, no carpet lines, no weeds and no extra-large grasshoppers in their amaryllis garden. He loved cheering on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Craig loved to spend his spare time watching and reciting Hallmark movies. He will always be remembered for his decades of extreme decorating for the holidays, which put many in awe. His desire to entertain was always impeccable. Craig was always willing to lend a hand, whether it be family, friend or neighbor – he was there.
Craig is preceded in death by his parents, Virginia and Kips (step-dad) Spurgeon and Paul and Collette (step-mom) Vargo. Craig is survived by his wife of twenty-seven years, Georgette; three daughters from his first marriage: Lisa (Matt) Taschner, Jennifer (Brian) Cohoon, Kristina (John) McCarty, grandchildren Grant, Devin and Victoria Taschner, Colton and Natalie Cohoon, Faith, Ethan and Hailey McCarty; and two sisters: Sonja (Burnell) Kliest, Veda (Kevin Blohm) Vargo.
Our husband, dad, grandpa, brother and friend will be deeply missed. We love you always and forever, until we meet again.
A memorial service will be held at 10am on Wednesday, March 3rd at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church 13485 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, FL 34609. Gathering of family and friends to follow at home.
