Deborah Ada Sykes

She was born in the Bronx on October 19,1959 to the parents of Gloria and John Georgalis. She graduated from Island Trees High School and briefly attended school at Bodhi Medical Group. She was the director of Mrs. B’s Day care on Spring Hill Drive and was hoping to become an owner one day.

Her daily life revolved around the day care, where she spent countless hours ensuring that the children were loved and cared for. Her other love was her grandchildren. There was nothing she would not do for them. She was their MIMA and they loved her with all their heart.

She is survived by her husband David Sykes of nearly 20 years of marriage. She has two children, Eric and Denise Bresser and five grandchildren. Riley, Noble, and Ezekial Bresser are the three boys, and the two girls are Kendal Kohlas and Lucia Gambino. Also, morning her loss is her mother Gloria and stepfather West Smith along with her siblings Scott Georgalis and Stacy Ziccardy.

As someone who was pure at heart and full of love and kindness, she will be dearly missed by all who met her along with the thousands of children she cared for.

Funeral Respects for parents and the public will be from 9:00 – 10:30 on May 9th, 2026, at Turners Funeral at 14360 Spring Hill Drive. Close friends and family can attend the Funeral Service at 11:00 followed by the burial and reception.
