Effie Kapetan, age 100+, has passed away.

Born in Rahway, New Jersey, on September 8, 1925, Effie later made her home first in Connecticut and then in Bennington, Vermont, where she and her beloved husband, Peter L. Kapetan, owned and operated their family restaurant. After retiring, they moved to Fort Myers, Florida, where Effie and Peter became active members of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church.

Effie had a zest for life and was known for her strength, determination, and warm spirit. She loved playing tennis well into her 80s and treasured the friendships she made throughout her life. Later, she moved to Brooksville, Florida, to be closer to her daughter and became a resident of Canterbury Arms Assisted Living in Spring Hill. She was a faithful member of Christ the Savior Orthodox Church, where she found comfort, friendship, and spiritual strength.

Effie was predeceased by her husband, Peter, with whom she shared 50 years of love, partnership, and devotion.

She is lovingly survived by: Daughter: Andrea Grande and son-in-law Mario Grande; Grandchildren & Great-Grandchildren: Marisa Grande and her husband Blair Langlinais, and their children Clio and Bruno (Texas); Danielle Cosentino and her husband Robert, and their children Matteo, Marco, and Marcello (New York); Mario Grande and his children Malina and Sam (Maryland)

Her extended family: Cousins: Gail Cavallaro and Tony Psomas (Mother Mary) (New Jersey), Michael Karteris and family (Greece), Christopher Somas and family (Australia);

Nieces: Yanna Nikitas (Vermont), Karen Johnston and her husband Jerry Johnston (South Carolina), Irene Sergentanis and family (Massachusetts), Sharon Noglow and nephew Evan Noglow and family (Connecticut); and bonus nieces and nephew: Pamela Geannelis (North Carolina), Nikki Geannelis, and Peter Geannelis (Vermont), along with their families

Effie will be remembered for her unwavering love of family, her generous heart, her resilience, and the kindness she shared with everyone she met. Her legacy of love, faith, and perseverance will continue to live on through all who knew and loved ber.

May she rest in peace and may her memory be eternal.

Funeral service: Wednesday, July 29th at 10:00 AM, followed by burial at Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington, Vermont.
