Flossie was born in Coldwater, Michigan on March 1, 1926. She graduated from
Cadillac High School, attended Marion College in Indiana, and received a B.S. in
Music Education from Wisconsin State College—Eau Claire.
She married Loring H. Peterson on July 26, 1947.
Flossie spent her career in elementary music education for Wisconsin’s
Oconomowoc Public Schools. Throughout her adult life, she was also the director
of music in various churches.
Flossie had a passion for studying and learning about natural healing, for painting,
and for dedicated service to her friends and family. Anyone who’s heard her play
boogie woogie on the piano, or sing “His Eye is on the Sparrow”, or watched her
encourage and care for her many friends will appreciate what a special person
Flossie was.
She is survived by her children Renae (John) Ensign of Big Bend, WI; Marsha
Pattison of Spring Hill, TN; Brad Peterson (Claudia Sepp) of Eugene, OR;
grandchildren Erika (Steven), Dylan, Amber (Sam), Jason (Julie), Meghan (John),
Brendan (Morgan), Aurora, and Skyler, great grandchildren Gabriel, James, Ellie
Rose, and Jude, as well as nieces and nephews.
Flossie was predeceased by her husband, Loring; her parents, Dayton and Clara
Manker; her brother, Stanley; and her sister, Irene.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at
Brooksville Wesleyan Church.
