

Born in Clifton, New Jersey on July 20, 1929, to long time Clifton residents, parents Albert and Charlotte (Glattly) Vollinger, whose own parents immigrated from Germany and Switzerland in the 1880’s. He was educated in the Clifton Grade Schools and graduated from College High School, located at the Montclair Normal School. He entered the Banking profession upon graduation in 1947, starting as a Messenger at the Franklin Trust Company of Paterson, NJ. After serving in the Navy during the Korean War, he returned to Banking at The Bank of Nutley, Nutley, NJ and in 1956 started at the First National Bank of Paterson and remained there and its’ successors, for thirty years, retiring as Senior. Vice President Comptroller from First Fidelity in 1986. He was active in local and National Banking Associations including, The Passaic County AIB, New Jersey Bankers, Bank Administration Institute and The Comptroller’s Institute.
He and his wife Rae lived in Key West, Florida, (where their son was born) Clifton NJ, Wayne NJ and Pequannock NJ, spending their last eighteen years at the New Jersey Shore at Silver Beach, before moving to Timber Pines, in Spring Hill, Florida in 1994.
He was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Rae (Hill) Vollinger after 65 years of marriage on February 25, 2017, his infant son Albert Earl, his parents and sister, Alene McLaughlin.
He is survived by two daughters, Linda Rae Meisch (Glenn) and Beth Ann Vollinger and Grandchildren Katie Rae (Meisch) Long and Jason Allen Meisch, and Great Grandson Skylar Glenn Long and Great Granddaughter Chloe Charlotte Long. He is also survived by his son-in-law, Glenn Allen Meisch, and his granddaughter's husband, Patrick Long.
The Turner Funeral Home in Spring Hill, Florida will handle the cremation and at his request, there will not be any viewing or services. The ashes will be buried next to his wife in the Vollinger Family plot at Laurel Grove Memorial Cemetery, Totowa, New Jersey. The family would also appreciate donations to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer.
To all my friends who are still on this side of the grass, I’ve been ready to go for some time, so no sad songs for me. Instead, think of all the great times Rae and I had with all of you, and put a smile on your face.
