The son of Italian immigrants, Frank was born on November 29, 1936 in Ossining NY, where he grew up and graduated from Ossining High School in the class of 1953. Frank proudly served in the U. S. Navy from 1954-1957 as a Seaman on the destroyer USS Samuel B. Roberts, continuing service as a Naval Reservist until 1962.
On May 5, 1957, Frank married Joan Evelyn Canniff at St. George’s Church in Lake Mohegan NY. They lived in Ossining NY for several years, before moving to Croton on Hudson, NY, where they raised their two sons. Frank and Joan were a constant presence at all of their sons’ sporting and school events.
Frank worked for 27 years as a corrections officer at Sing Sing Correctional Facility. Throughout the years, he supplemented his income with a house painting business and then a beer line cleaning business.
Frank and Joan moved to Florida in 1987, residing the last 17 years in Brookridge Country Club community, where he enjoyed his time golfing and spending time with his Friday group. He was devoted to Notre Dame football and thrilled to see Tiger come back to win the Master’s one more time.
Frank is survived by two sons, Frank R and his wife Lisa of Highlands Ranch, CO, Steven C and his wife Gail of Toms River, NJ; two grandchildren, Jennifer Nunziato, husband Anthony and great-grandson Anthony of Valley Cottage, NY, Steven Traditi and his wife Katie of South Orange NJ; as well as many nieces and nephews. His parents, sister Dora, and brothers Philip and Danny preceded him in death.
Family and friends may gather at the Turner Funeral Home on Friday, April 26, 2019 from noon-1pm with a funeral service to follow at 1:00pm. A reception will follow for family and friends at the BCCGA Golf Clubhouse. Donations may be made in Frank’s name to HPH Hospice, 12260 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville FL 34613.
