George Alfred Simons

He was born on May 7, 1930, in Columbus, NJ, the son of George H. and Edith Hall Simons. George married Carolyn Southard, and she preceded him in death on October 5, 2014.

George leaves to cherish his memories his daughters: Daina Simons and Holli Jobes, his grandchildren: Brittany Huston (Tristan Winters), Matthew (Trisha) Jobes and Kelly Jobes, and his great-grandchildren: Morgan Huston, Eddie Winters, Matthew Jobes, Jr, Wyatt Jobes, Leo Jobes, Michael Skinner and Jaxson Skinner.

George loved to bowl, play Bingo with Carolyn, and taking trips to Biloxi, MS and Branson, MO. He was a US Navy veteran. He was active in showing cattle, a trait passed to his daughter and grandchildren. He also maintained a close relationship with relatives in New Jersey.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at Merritt Funeral Home, 2 S. Lemon Ave, Brooksville, FL 34601, US, on July 17, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Merritt Funeral Home, 2 S. Lemon Ave, Brooksville, FL 34601, US, on July 17, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hernando County 4-H, 16110 Aviation Loop, Brooksville, FL
