Glenn Lee King was born in Richmond, Ohio on May 28, 1929. He moved to Miami in 1942. He served in the United States Air Force. He was employed by Eastern Airlines in Miami from 1948 until 1988, 40 years. He left Miami in 2001 and moved to Spring Hill to be near his family. His hobbies included anything having to do with aviation and trains. He was very mechanical and could fix almost anything. He was artistic and could paint and draw.
His mother’s name was Lois Sherlock King and his father’s name was William West King. He is survived by his wife of over 61 years Valerie McLeod King, daughter Judy Bird, son in law Jim Bird, granddaughter Jennifer Cox and husband Kevin Cox, grandson Michael Bird and 2 great granddaughters Katelyn and Brielle Cox, brother in law Mac McLeod and sister in law Linda McLeod.
He was faithful to Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior and served at Shenandoah Presbyterian PCA in Miami first as a deacon and then as an elder and also drove and maintained the Sunday school bus bringing many children to church each week. Some of those very children turned out to be future pastors, missionaries, church elders and deacons. Glenn had a lot of patience and Jesus love in his heart for these children (no matter how they acted). He felt each one had great potential for Jesus. He later attended Kendall Presbyterian PCA and recently is a member of Faith Presbyterian EPC.
The most important thing to Glenn was to bring glory to Jesus by his life. One of his favorite verses was Col. 3:23-24 “Whatever you do; work at it with all your heart as working for the Lord not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”
Glenn’s desire would be for every one of you to know and trust Jesus as your Savior and Lord so that you too can join him in Heaven one day.
If you haven’t asked Jesus into your heart then pray this prayer. Dear Jesus thank you for dying on the cross for me, taking the punishment that I deserve. I give my life to you. I repent of the sins I have committed against you. Help me to now be obedient and live for you. In Jesus Name, Amen. John 14:6 “Jesus said I am the way the truth and the life no one comes to the Father except through me.”
Repent is to be sorry for the sin in your life and to turn from it and resolve to reform one’s life to live according to God’s word the Bible.
Sin is anything you do against God’s law. Read Exodus 20 and Matthew 5
Who made you? God Gen. 1:27 “So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him: male and female He created them.”
What else did God make? “God made all things. John 1:3 through him all things were made: without Him nothing was made that has been made.”
Why did God make you and all things? For His own glory, 1Cor. 10:31 “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
How can you glorify God? By loving Him and doing what he commands. John 14:15 “If you love me, you will obey what I command.”
Why ought you to glorify God? Because He made me and takes care of me 1 Peter 5:7 “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.”
Glenn would never want this to be a celebration of his life but instead a celebration of what Jesus has done for him and through him.
