

Harold F. “Buddy” Lord, Jr., passed away February 12, 2017 at the age of 93 after a short illness. He was born on May 30, 1923 in Ipswich, MA and grew up there and in the greater Ipswich / Newburyport, MA area. Previous to his military service, he was employed by the U.S. Navy yard in Portsmouth, NH making parts for submarines. He also managed an Esso gas station in Amesbury, MA. He was a Corporal in the Army Airforce, 78th Airdrome Squadron, serving as an ammunition supply tech during WWII – the Pacific Theater of Operations (1943-1945). After his military service, he moved to Hampton Falls, NH. On February 8, 1947 he married his first wife, Hazel Rines who passed away in 1980 at the age of 53 due to cancer. Harold resided in Hampton Falls, NH for 50 years, and worked in the construction business for 37 of those years. He and his 2nd wife Cathy (Peters) Lord moved to Spring Hill, FL in 1990. Cathy died in 2012 due to an auto accident. During Harold’s time in FL he worked for 18 years as a handy man. He was an honest, hardworking, very patriotic, down to earth and strong minded man. He had a wonderful sense of humor and got a kick out of telling jokes. Challenges were faced with courage, faith and optimism. He loved his family and friends and made an effort to keep in touch with them regularly. Harold enjoyed watching professional wrestling and westerns on TV. He rooted for the New England teams, especially the Patriots and the Red Sox. He also loved feeding and watching the birds in his backyard. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold Sr and Dorothy (Weir) Lord; brothers, Robert Lord and Norman Lord; sister, Esther Janvrin; first wife, Hazel (Rines) Lord; eldest son, Wayne Lord; and second wife, Cathy (Peters) Lord. Survived by brother, Donald Lord of Exeter, NH; sister, Dorothy Wheeler of N. Hampton, NH; sister, Ruth Pelton of Hampton Falls, NH; son, Clifford Lord and wife Sharon of Powder Springs, GA; son, Allen Lord and wife Judy of Clintwood, VA; daughter, Gail Lucey and husband Dick of Nashua, NH; daughter-in-law, Sally Lord of Palm Bay, FL; 10 precious grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial gathering will be held Monday, February 27, 2017, 2-3 pm with memorial service to follow at 3 pm, at Turner Funeral Home’s Spring Hill Chapel, 14360 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, FL 34609.
