Born in Gloversville, New York on August 24, 1945 to Henry and Anna Perrone DiCaterino. Henry attended Gloversville High School graduating in 1963. He was a proud member of the undefeated football team. He and his teammates remained friends over the years and always stayed in touch with each other. Henry graduated from Hudson Valley Community College in 1965, with a degree in Applied Science and State University of New York at Oswego in 1968, with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Henry was proud to serve his country in the United States Navy. He was stationed in Alameda, California and then Pensecola, Florida where he attended Aviation Officer Candidate's School. He served from 1968-1971 with an honorable discharge with the rank of Ensign. He made many friends during his time in service and continued some of those friendships over the years.
Returning home he went to work for Boyd Harmon Finance Company as a manager, leaving there to take a position with the Department of the Army at the Watervliet Arsenal in Watervliet, New York serving as Machinist Apprentice and then as Machinist. Wanting to be closer to home he took a position as Letter Carrier for the United States Post Office in Amsterdam, New York. He continued in the position for over 20 years {as he would like to say, walking over 25,000 miles). He loved all of the people on the route he had for 12 years. He made many friends and was always willing to lend a helping hand to any of his customers who were in need.
Henry was proud to tell everyone how he built his '32 Ford Street Rod and always carried a picture in his wallet to show everyone. He also loved his Lionel trains and loved running them for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and sometimes a child in the neighborhood.
Living in RV parks in Florida, he made many friends during his daily bike rides through the neighborhood, stopping to visit along the way. If he didn't know you, he would stop and introduce himself. He often said a stranger was a friend you haven't met yet. Henry also enjoyed playing cards, shuffleboard, cornhole and singing Karaoke. After living in the parks for years, he decided to purchase a home. Here he continued playing cards with friends and having lunch or dessert and enjoying lots of laughs together.
He was of Roman Catholic faith and served as Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Amsterdam, New York. Henry had a deep faith in God and tried to live his life as Christ would have wanted, showing love and kindness to everyone. After moving to Spring Hill, Florida he continued his faith at St Frances Cabrini Church.
Henry is survived by his wife, Carolyn Pingitore Kalament DiCaterino whom he married on May 4, 1975 and enjoyed 51 years together. His children, Thomas s. Kalament Ill {Jennifer) and Kara A. DiCaterino both of Florida. His grandchildren, Carlynn Kalament Troyanowski (Grant), Thomas S. Kalament IV, Caeden F. DiCaterino and Braden H.
