

Henry was born on December 26, 1931, in the Bronx, New York to his parents Joan and Henry Sauer. At the young age of 21, Henry was drafted by the United States Army to serve his nation and would go on to serve honorably in the Korean War becoming a recipient of the Purple Heart.
After serving in the War, Henry returned home where he was reunited with his loving wife, the late Kathleen Sauer, who he was married to for 55 years and had two children, daughter Rose and son Louis, and spent much of their adult life in Elmont, New York. After completing trade school, Henry was joined by his son Louis and started Elmont Refrigeration where he would go on to run a successful business for over 40 years before retiring to Florida in 1994.
In his retirement, he and his family relocated to Weeki Wachee, Florida. During those retirement years, Henry enjoyed his late wife’s home cooking, spending time with his family and friends, and watching countless hours of military documentaries and 70’s crime dramas.
Henry was predeceased by his wife Kathleen Sauer (former Esperti). He is survived by his brother Robert Sauer of East Meadow, New York, daughter Rose Catroppo and son Louis Sauer of Weeki Wachee, Florida, grandson Nicholas Catroppo (Amanda), and great-granddaughter Capri Catroppo of Tallahassee, Florida.
The family requests that flowers be sent to Turner Funeral Home located at 14360 Spring Hill Drive in Spring Hill, Florida. There will be a funeral service held at Turner Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 21st at 4:00pm followed by a burial service on Thursday, December 22nd at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
