Irene R. Kelly

Irene Rita Kelly, 93, of Spring Hill, Florida, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2017, at her son’s Spring Hill home in the presence of her loving children. Irene was born in Preakness, New Jersey, on August 1, 1924, to Fred and Loretta (Usinger) Kohnken and was raised in Astoria, Queens, New York. Irene was preceded in death by Howard, her loving husband of 57 years and her only sibling Fred Kohnken. She is survived by her five children: Raymond Kelly (Kathy), Friedens, PA; Sharon Aurigemma (Frank), Spring Hill, FL; Janet Iaci (Jack), Spring Hill, FL; Douglas Kelly (Deborah), Spring Hill, FL and Robert Kelly (Christine), New Tampa, FL; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren and one great grandchild on the way. Howard and Irene moved to Spring Hill in 1993, from Seaford, New York. Irene was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Post 1015, Amityville, NY, and a past President of the Woman’s Auxiliary. A homemaker, wife and mother, Irene dearly loved gardening and could still be seen at her Spring Hill home tending to her yard. She was of the Roman Catholic faith. Friends will be received on Wed., Sept. 20, 2017 from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Turner Funeral Home, 14360 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, FL 34609, where a chapel service will take place on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017 at 10:00 A.M.
