Skip was one of six children to Isadore and Frances Ciagala: Rolland (Lucille), Louis (Billie), Andrew, and Cecelia; and he is survived by his brother, Theodore M. Ciagala, wife Mary.
Skip was a devoted husband to Elaine Ciagala and stepfather to her three children. Skip was also a beloved uncle to 13 nieces and nephews who appreciated his sense of humor. He was a natural conversationalist, able to make anyone feel at ease.
Skip Ciagala proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from July 23, 1962, to September 29, 1966, where he earned the National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Metal and qualified as an 11-14 Rifle Sharpshooter.
After his military service, he worked for Coca Cola as a driver for several years. He later served as Former Commander and active member of VFW Post 8681 in Florida.
Skip was an avid fan of John Wayne and enjoyed reading up about the old west. He loved many western novels and watching classic cowboy films. His admiration for the iconic actor ran so deep that his brother once gifted him a life-size cardboard cutout of “The Duke!”
A memorial gathering will be held in Michigan on a date and time yet to be determined.
