Born on July 8, 1928, in Towson, MD, to James Lindsay Johnson, Sr.
And Kate Mae (Simms) Johnson. Jim was a child of the depression and
Thus became a hard worker early in life to support the family.
He was known as a kind, caring and soft-spoken man with a great
Sense of humor.
He married Geraldine F. (Marstellar) Johnson in 1948. They had four
Sons: James L. Johnson Ill, Charles E. Johnson, Robert W. Johnson, and
Jeffrey L. Johnson. From them, he had five grandchildren: Kelsey Johnson-Watley,
Joshua Johnson, Jessica Johnson-Myers, Joey Johnson and Jessie Johnson. From
These he had nine great-grandchildren. Jim was so pleased to have one grandson
To carry on the Johnson name .. .Joshua Johnson.
Jim had many jobs to support his family. He finally got his dream job on the
Railroad in 1950. His nickname there was "Jingles". He retired in 1990 after
40 years on the rails for Amtrak as an Engineer.
Upon retirement, Jim and wife Geraldine moved to Spring Hill, FL, in that
Same year, 1990. After losing his wife Geraldine of 59+1/2 years in 2007, Jim
Found a new love and married Victoria L. Keplinger-Bailey Johnson. They
Recently celebrated their 10-year wedding anniversary.
In his early years, Jim enjoyed family trips to Ocean City, MD and Myrtle
Beach, SC. He also enjoyed their yearly trips to Disney World when their
Youngest son was little. They loved Florida and decided to retire there.
In his later years, he enjoyed tinkering around the house and in the yard. He
Especially loved the beauty of flowers. He also enjoyed watching TV and reading
And tapping his foot to "old" country music. Most of all, he loved telling people
Stories about the Railroad.
In addition to leaving behind his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren,
He left behind a daughter-in-law to his oldest son James, Pauline A. Johnson, and also Four stepchildren and their spouses: Sherry Dansberger (David), Aaron Bailey (Robyn) Eric Bailey (Julie), Melissa Senez (Jeremy) and almost a dozen step-grandchildren. He Finally got his "girls" when he married Vicki. He enjoyed all of them fussing over him
And being welcomed as part of the family by all.
He will be mourned and missed by family, close friends, and neighbors. He was a dedicated And baptized Jehovah's Witness since 1957. The Memorial Service is private and will be Presided over by Brother Jon Dowler, an Elder with the Springwood Congregation.
