James was born on September 8, 1965, to Barry and Janice Roland of Terryville, Connecticut where he grew up alongside his brothers Jeffrey and William. He earned his bachelor's degree in computer science with Aviation Application from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and later went on to get his Master of Science in Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. James put his knowledge to good use as he worked his way up to becoming an Information Technology Managing Director for Cigna. He exemplified the core principles of true leadership by consistently empowering his team.
Outside of work, James was a devoted husband of 37 years to his loving wife Stacy, a proud father to Joshua and Alyssa, and doting papa to his granddaughter, Chloe. James had an undeniable passion for fishing, golfing and traveling all of which he shared with his family. Through his actions, James taught those around him the importance of kindness and community. James had some words of wisdom to pass along to his family, friends and peers…” work hard, be open to change, never stop learning, and treat everyone the way you would like to be treated, but above all, be honest with yourself.”
