Jack began his federal career in 1965, when he entered an accelerated six month, graduate level, Computer Science program designed for the Air Force Logistics Command by the Air Force Institute of Technology. Upon graduation, he designed and programmed large scale systems for the Air Force Logistics Cataloging system utilizing a state of the art Univac digital computer. In 1966, Jack left government service to manage a computer systems and programming development department at Leesona Corp., Inc., and later to do contract work at Kennedy Space Center managing a program development operation in support of the Apollo spacecraft program.
In 1974, Jack returned to federal service at the Panama Canal Company where he supervised a small technical team that designed and implemented several Ship Transit tracking, operation and administration systems. In 1977, Jack accepted a Data Base position at US Air Force, Hq Strategic Air Command at Offutt AFB. Then in 1978, he accepted the position of Air Force Automated Data Processing Single Manager for the US Air Force Arnold Engineering and Development Center at Arnold AFB, Tennessee.
In 1991, Jack accepted the position of Software Contractor Manager at the US Air Force Standard Systems Center, Gunter AFB, Montgomery, Alabama. In 1994, he accepted a position at USSOCOM/J8 in Tampa. As USSOCOM grew, Jack was relocated from the J8 to the SOFM Resource Data Management Office, where he was instrumental in overseeing most, if not all, financial systems within the HQs until his retirement.
Jack was an avid gun collector and enjoyed owning many sports cars. He also loved dogs and was never without a canine companion with some of his favorite breeds being German Shepards, Huskies and Malamutes.
He is survived by his wife, Carol, sons Michael Howard Broerman and Mark Francis Broerman, Daughter-in-Law Susan Lee Broerman, Step-Children David J. Crumley and Cheryl L. Powers, Step-Grandchildren Maria J. Powers, Grace L. Powers, and Kylee C. Powers, Sister Claire L. Crook.
There will be a service with military honors to be held at 11:00am, March 8, 2024, at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
