

Josiah “Joe” Evans Magoon III, age 92, of Altamonte Springs, Florida, died on Sunday, December 4, 2016. Joe was born on March 18, 1924, in New Bedford, Ma and resided in North Dartmouth, MA, East Meadow, LI NY, Spring Hill and Altamonte Springs. Josiah was a U S Navy veteran, A Signalman First Class, serving in the D-Day invasion, and the Japanese surrender during WWII. Josiah was employed by the New England Telephone Co. and the New York Telephone Co and retired after 40 years of serving the Long Island New York area. A lifetime member of the telephone pioneers and an avid golfer. Josiah was pre-deceased by his wife Gladys (Polidoro) Magoon, son Randy Magoon, from Long Island, New York, sister Dorothy Bielefeld, and brother Wesley Magoon, both from Massachusetts. Joe is lovingly survived by his daughter Dale E. Nielsen of Orlando, Florida, and three grandchildren; Keith, Tracy, & Bobby, as well as by two great grandchildren, Brook & Blake, and his longtime companion Connie Stanganelli of West palm Beach, FL. All funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Turner Funeral Home, 14360 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, FL, 34609. Josiah’s family and friends will gather on Friday, December 9, 2016, at the funeral home from 10-11 am. The funeral service will follow at 11 am, at the funeral home, with Reverend Dr. David Brockhoff, Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, in Masaryktown FL officiating. Graveside Committal Service and Military Honors conducted by the VFW Post 10209 of Spring Hill, at the Florida Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery, in Spring Hill. Josiah will be laid to rest next to loving wife Gladys.
